As an NDIS registered provider, every NDIS participant we speak to, would like to have carefully planned disability supports that are individually tailored to meet their unique support needs.

Whether you need social support to accompany you out for a coffee or help you attend classes, support to clean your house or for gardening or domestic support, or to support you to accompany you to medical appointments, our team at ELS is ready to support you.

What can a disability support worker do?

ELS disability support workers can provide the following services:

  • Social support

  • Personal care

  • Domestic support

  • Personal care

  • Nursing services

Daily living, social and community activities include support for companionship, community participation, meal preparation, transport, light housework, light gardening and personal admin. Examples include:

​

  • Transport to your weekly sports session, appointment, or class

  • Attend a movie or stage show at your local cinema or community center

  • Spend a day at the beach, museum, or local park

  • Discover new skills or enjoy a hobby

  • Basic gardening tasks such as weeding, cutting lawns, planting, and clearing small plants

  • Supporting the daily organization of reminders, appointments, correspondence, and other general administrative duties

  • Fixing minor problems in your home. Fixings that do not require a trade professional. For example, changing light bulbs, changing smoke detectors’ batteries, minor furniture repairs and fixing cupboard doors.

Help with Cooking

Personal care

Sometimes, support needs can be more complex. Personal care is a vital aspect of in-home support and covers everything from manual handling to personal hygiene. These can include -

  • Shower, toileting and dressing

  • Light massage (massage of hands, arms, feet or legs)

  • Exercise assistance (assisting with community sports, fitness and daily exercise)

  • Care assessment, planning and coordination (assessing, planning, organising and facilitating options and services to meet health, well-being and budget objectives)

  • Palliative care (delivering care services using a palliative approach and supporting a person and their family with grief and loss)

  • Manual transfer and mobility*

  • Assistance with eating*

  • Assistance with medication*.

Looking to receive nursing services at home? At ELS, we can support you with Registered Nurses who provide clinical care. Through nursing services, you can:

  • Access the right clinical support for your needs.

  • Be understood and supported by someone with the right qualifications.

  • Receive rehabilitative care, care for dementia, wound or palliative care in the comfort of your home.

  • Receive medication management tailored to you.

  • Be supported by someone with a minimum of one year's experience in their professional field.

How do we screen our Disability and aged care support workers?

At ELS, suitably skilled, qualified and trained support workers offer support services for older people and people with disabilities.​

 

ELS only employs appropriately qualified and experienced support workers.

 

Before we introduce you to a disability support worker, we carefully screen them for the right skill sets, knowledge, expertise and experience to support you according to your preferences; whether it be cultural or gender preference.

​​So we do all the necessary work in the background to make sure that the support worker we introduce you or your family member has the following pre-requisites met -

​

  • Certificate in disability services or relevant qualification and experience in individual service delivery.

  • Professional and personal reference checks are done.

  • Other CPR and first aid certifications completed and current.

  • Visa details checked

  • Police check, working with children check and NDIS worker check completed.

  • Vehicle details and insurance checked.

  • We train and induct disability support workers to understand your unique support needs before their first service.
